We were so busy forgetting 2020 and welcoming 2021, many of us would have missed tech giants standing up for our data privacy and small business welfare.

Apple is an environmentally conscious company(remember they didn’t include the charger for iphone 12 for saving environment) which is now standing up for its users. Yes they really care about you and your data privacy.

Facebook is a small business friendly company(remember the daily minimum budget has gone up considerably) now standing up for the welfare of small businesses across the world.

If you want more clarity, Apple has come out with an iOS 14 update which will allow the user to gain control over the sharing of his/her data to apps/websites. Simply you can allow or block them out from reading your identity. This will give you an invisible cloak while surfing. SOUNDS GOOD RIGHT…?

From Facebook’s perspective, it simply makes it difficult for them to customise the ads delivered to you. Without knowing your content consumption pattern, FB is in dark to serve you with relevant ads. This will result in low performance of FB ad campaigns, increased lead generation cost and cost per click resulting in loss to small businesses as their ad budget is small(cant you reduce your price?). WOW FACEBOOK REALLY CARES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES RIGHT..?

The best part is they both are talking about your data, one wants to give control to you and the other thinks it will hurt the small business landscape. BUT DID IT EVER OCCURED TO YOU THAT YOU SHOULD BE THE ONE WHO SHOULD TALK AND DECIDE ABOUT IT..? It’s simply a matter of fight between power of Operating System and power of marketing platform. Apple wants to justify the premium pricing by providing more privacy and Facebook wants to keep the profit margin by opposing it. For both of them its all about making more money.

Now imagine what if Google decides to jump in and show what it can do?

THE BITTER TRUTH IS, IT’S OUR DATA, OUR PRIVACY AND WE ARE TRULY AT THE MERCY OF THESE TECH GIANTS…..PITY…!
